An excellent introduction to the wonderful world of Laphroaig. Milder and slightly lighter, but still characteristic of the distillery. This bottling of February 2014 was inspired by Ian Hunter, the last owner within the family of the original founders. He was the first to experiment with the combination of whiskeys matured on Bourbon barrels and European oak. For this Select, use was made of Oloroso butts, new American oak, PX treated Hogsheads, quarter casks, and first-fill Bourbon casks.
