    Behind the Label: Aperol

    Aperol, the iconic Italian aperitif, was created in 1919 by brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri in Padua. Their invention was the result of seven years of experimentation, aiming to craft a low-alcohol, refreshing drink suitable for the Italian aperitivo tradition. Aperol's distinctive bright orange color and bittersweet flavor come from a secret blend of herbs and roots, including rhubarb and gentian. Introduced at the Padua International Fair, Aperol quickly gained popularity, especially among young adults gathering in local cafés and Venetian bacari. In 2003, the Campari Group acquired the brand, further expanding its global presence.
