Today, it is still possible to enter the city of Beaune through the gates of the Château built by Louis XI.
In 1820, Bernard Bouchard became the owner of the Château de Beaune, thereby anchoring the Domaine in the city’s history. In 1872, the Domaine established its headquarters on Rue du Château. Over the years, the family has converted the underground galleries and bastions into ageing cellars. These cellars offer excellent conditions for the maturation of the finest wines and continue to safeguard the outstanding bottled heritage of the Domaine. A treasure that includes exceptional bottles from the 20th and 19th centuries, the oldest of which dating back to 1846. The Château retains the grandeur of its original towers and ramparts, as well as the master residence with its polychrome roofs, where guests of the Domaine are welcomed.

The Château has been listed since 1937 in the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques (Supplementary Inventory of French National Heritage Sites).
From Château to Vineyard, the heritage of Bouchard Père & Fils is deeply intertwined with the city of Beaune.
