White Wine
Michel Redde Barre à Mine Pouilly-Fumé Loire France 2022
Tasting Notes
Pouilly-Fumé is located in the eastern end of the Loire Valley and is one of its most famous appellations. Producing dry, perfumed Sauvignon Blanc with distinctive smoke and flint characteristics, the wines are highly prized, with the best capable of cellaring for several decades. Locally, the Sauvignon Blanc grape is called Blanc-Fumé, due to the thin layer of slightly smoky bloom which covers the grapes when ripe. The Redde family have been there for 14 generations and their knowledge allows them to create expressive and highly individual wines. The Pouilly-Fumé has notes of exotic pineapple and passion fruit with a palate full of spice and a white pepper finish. It pairs perfectly with pork, fish, seafood and goat's cheese.
